Our people
Optometrist
An optometrist is a healthcare professional who specialises in eye care and vision health. Their primary role involves examining eyes, diagnosing vision problems, and prescribing corrective lenses, such as glasses or contact lenses. Optometrists also play a crucial role in detecting eye diseases and conditions, such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration. They may provide treatment for certain eye conditions and refer patients to ophthalmologists or other healthcare professionals when specialised medical treatment or surgery is required.
In addition to these clinical responsibilities, optometrists are also involved in advising patients on eye health and preventative care, including nutrition and lifestyle factors that can affect vision. They are qualified to perform eye tests, measure visual acuity, and assess binocular vision. Optometrists in the UK are registered with the General Optical Council (GOC), ensuring they meet the required standards of practice and ethics.
Styling Consultants & Optical Assistants
The team is completed by Optical Assistants. Skilled at optical styling as well as lens selection, they’ve all taken part in large amounts of training and study. They may also carry out Cannon retinal photography and Humphrey Visual Fields on behalf of the Optometrists.
